Laos Prepares To Host Football Asia 2005
VIENTIANE, Feb 5 (Bernama) -- Laos will play
host to the Football Asia 2005 U-13 Festival from May 1 to 7, the Laotian News
Agency (KPL) reported on Friday.
The football tournament will see the best teams from Vietnam, Thailand,
Singapore and Myanmar compete for the championship.
The Asian Football Federation is setting aside a budget of US$35,000 for the
competition, while the Lao Football Confederation is sponsoring the medals for
the best teams.
Phouvane Vongsouthi, Secretary of the Lao Football Confederation, said: "We
hope to promote the sports to youths through this competition.
"There will be 18 players in each team. In any competition, there can only
be one winner. Hence, the rest who failed should not be overly upset.
"What is more important is that they enjoyed the game and make new friends
through the competition and also get to love the sport."
